I am a biotechnologist and biochemist with over 10 years of research experience. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher in the lab of Prof. Todd Yeates at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), where I combine protein design with structural biology to (1) develop new imaging tools to study small proteins (<50 kDa) with cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) using designed protein cages as scaffolds and to (2) design new protein assemblies and nanomachines for biomedical applications using AI-based computational tools. My research interests lie at the interface of structural, molecular, cellular, computational and synthetic biology. I received my undergraduate degree in Biotechnology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain) in 2015, and earned a PhD in Biochemistry from the John Innes Centre (UK) in 2019 under the mentorship of Prof. George Lomonossoff. During my doctoral training, I investigated the details of the dynamic conformational changes that occur during the maturation cycle of a eukaryotic virus, using high-resolution cryo-EM.
